Forensic criminals apprehend 18-year-old graffiti artist after careful, secret investigation

After receiving a statement from the Vilnius Municipal Administration on property damage, a pre-trial investigation was launched in accordance with article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 2 d.

The statement identified around 150 locations with various captured graffiti drawings. After the analysis of the images of the drawings, the most frequently repeated drawings were identified: the signatures of the drawers, the so-called “labels”.

Officials from the 2nd Division of the Property Crimes Investigation Board of the Vilnius Criminal Police have identified the suspects. September 10, one of them, aged eighteen (born in 2002), was arrested and detained.

During the search of the suspect’s home, material evidence relevant to the pre-trial investigation was found and confiscated: spray paints, markers, clothing, sketch drawings, miscellaneous video material, as well as the possible narcotic substance “herb.”

The young man was charged with a crime and placed in pre-trial detention, a written commitment not to leave, Vilnius County Police reports.

Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 2 d. provided that a person who has destroyed or damaged other property in the form of general danger or dismantling or damaging a facility or assembly, if he may have injured people, or destroyed, dismantled or damaged property or part of the infrastructure of a national security infrastructure strategic or important, or destroyed or damaged foreign property of high value or property of great scientific, historical or cultural importance, punishable by arrest or imprisonment of up to five years.
