The eyes of most of the spectators turned to the female class leader Adrija Skudutytė, who collapsed and broke her left collarbone on the track in Alexandria in August. Adria’s surgery was done just eleven days ago. However, the athlete did not break and was preparing for the start in the final stage.
Adrija Skudutytė had 194 points in the women’s classification before the final stage. Austėja Tamuliūnaitė, who switched from an ATV to a motorcycle this year, took second place in the championship: 164 points. Third – Agilija Skudutytė – 144. Fourth – Anna Stecjuka, a very capable guest from Latvia, who missed a stage – 138 points.
According to the championship regulations in Utena, Adrija Skudutyte had enough to start in at least one of the two qualifying races to become the first female motocross champion in Lithuanian history. Because, when calculating the final results, one of the worst steps is excluded. Adrija started even without healing after the injury, with her arm bandaged. And although she lagged behind her rivals at this stage (finishing fourth in race one), she still won first place in the championship.
“I tried to protect the injured hand, it was just because of the video. I drove calmly so as not to hurt her, so I didn’t feel much pain. Although I wanted to run inside, I kept my hand. Being the first champion of the women’s classification is very important to me. , I’m very proud of myself, because there were really a lot of strong competitors: both the Latvian Anna Stecjuka and the former ATV Austėja Tamuliūnaitė ”, the first ever winner of the Women’s Motocross Championship category was happy.
Anna Stecjuka from Latvia was probably the guest in Utena’s women’s class. Austėja Tamuliūnaitė, who took second place, and Adrija Skudutytė’s younger sister Agilija, who took third place, took the podium.
