Conservative prime minister I.Šimonytė commented on the SNB’s comments on the deliberations of the country’s leader, Gitanas Nausėda, that after the Seimas elections it should not be observed that the formation of the government should be entrusted only to the winning party.
However, Lithuania is a democratic country, there is a certain tradition of democracy, which I would say that the proposal to form a government should be directed to those people who receive the most confidence in the elections. And if someone fails to hold that government together, then of course how many other scenarios can there be, ”I. Šimonytė said on Saturday.
When asked whether he would give the winning party first place to form a government after the elections, G. Nausėda said in an interview with BNS this week that “we should probably not consider that he should be a representative of the winning party.”
“The government of Latvia is currently headed by the party leader, who is certainly not in the first, second or even third place, and he is leading quite successfully,” said the president.
According to I. Šimonytė, in this case the head of the country probably considered the theoretical possibilities based on the analyst’s previous experience.
“But you have to keep in mind that when the president is already speaking, not an analyst or an expert, then the statement that may seem correct in itself sounds like a certain position. “… It seems to me that we should not talk about theoretical cases, but about the position of the president as head of state,” said the parliamentarian.
Called not to be afraid to admit mistakes
At the extraordinary TS-LKD congress on Saturday, I. Šimonytė called for strengthening mutual trust, keeping our word and not being afraid to admit mistakes “or the fact that we just don’t know much.”
“Involve others in the search and decision making. “Don’t hurt businessmen or journalists just to make us look better in someone’s eyes,” said the leader of the conservative list.
“I even feel a little sorry for those who, by going to the elections, choose to fight not by emphasizing what they have done, how good they are, but even by paying to spread lies about the works, intentions or statements of TS-LKD”, I. Šimonytė said. and the search for solutions and solutions.
“Nepotism, corruption, non-transparent agreements, power instead of service, flows and the division of ministries always hurt like open wounds. Just as the low prestige of the Seimas and politics hurts. To demand from others we pay. But let’s also dare to be picky about ourselves, because so far few have really tried. “Let’s promise ourselves, first of all, that in case of reasonable doubts about the activities and decisions of any of us, the voice will not remove responsibility,” he added.

“I remember when we first mentioned this provision of the program, the eyes of colleagues fell on their foreheads. Which party continues to offer less? Need more! Salaries, pensions, at least pads, but unfold more. Not this time” said the Conservative leader in Congress.
According to him, this time the program covers only those goals that are really possible to achieve.
“It is important to us that the future government and its members understand the importance of priorities. You will not be able to implement all the work in a short time, therefore you must clearly say what is most important,” said Jurgita Šiugždinienė, head of the group of party program development work.
Conservatives who have worked in the opposition for the last two terms identify education as a priority and emphasize the need to improve educational conditions in the regions.
The program, presented on Saturday, highlights seven key points, including measures to improve access to healthcare, reduce social exclusion and promote a sustainable, high-value-added economy.
