A. Gray was born in 1935. February 27 In Trakiniai village, Anykščiai district, in a family of four children. After graduating from Antanava Primary School, he studied at Anykščiai Jonas Biliūnas Secondary School (now J. Biliūnas Gymnasium). In 1954-1958, he studied at the Vilnius Pedagogical Institute and obtained the education of an English teacher. After graduating and settling in Klaipėda, in 1958-1962 he taught at Klaipėda 4th Secondary School, later Klaipėda Maritime School. After returning to Vilnius, he taught at the Vilnius State Pedagogical Institute in 1962-1996 (since 1992 – Vilnius Pedagogical University). Since 1988 – Associate Professor.

1963-1965 internship at the University of Riga (Latvia), later – in Great Britain. 1984 She defended her dissertation “Negligible determinants of the Lithuanian language (compared to English)” at Vilnius University. Doctor in Philology and Humanities.

A. Pilka’s research area is the logical-semantic comparative analysis of the English and Lithuanian languages. She has published professional and scientific articles in L Vioistics, Language and Thoughts (1980), Words and Meanings 1 (1991), and elsewhere, and has published ethnographic research on prominent figures from her native town and surroundings in the national press. : printer Martynas Kuktas, Archbishop Teofilius Matulionis, priest Stasys Yla.
