Officer: R. Juonys, Director of Administration, resigns

I have felt hostility from councilors for some time now, so I have decided not to put unnecessary tension in this pre-election period or to give extra room for political speculation, so I am resigning. I leave with a clear conscience – I have not done anything wrong, I do not owe anyone or I have not fulfilled the tasks assigned to me.

I know the politics behind the scenes well. The desire of some council members to appear before the next Seimas elections is also well understood. But there are limits to everything. When the methods or results of the work are criticized, but when it comes to the family, it is clear to everyone that the objectives are completely different.

He was not a useful administrative administrator. On two occasions, I revoked the certificates issued for the operation of a rock processing plant in the Industrial Area, and I admonished the illegally licensed worker for this and initiated an investigation into the imposition of a disciplinary sanction. Naturally, the councilors concerned did not like it very much. Therefore, the Alytus County S. Kudirka Hospital Department of Surgery review tender was simply a good pretext.

Although I am accused of organizing a non-transparent tender, I did not even attend the meetings of the Public Procurement Commission at the time when the non-compliant bidders were rejected because I was on vacation with my family and could not make any decisions. The Public Procurement Commission employs professionals who are well acquainted with the work of the professionals I trust. While the city was not harmed, the facts and arguments were defeated this time by emotion and a loud cry.

For me personally, this position was a test not only to deal with the economic problems of the city, but also to lead such a large team. I have never tried to be above the staff or show that I understand everything better. The doors of my office were always open to them. Perhaps not everything was implemented as desired, but there were several reasons for this.

Thanks to all the administration staff and the heads of the municipal companies for their joint work. I would like to wish the Council members less personalities and fairer decisions for the city of Alytus. I hope that the council members and Mayor Nerijus Cesiulis will successfully complete the projects started, boldly undertake new ones, so that Alytus will be an example not only in the eyes of the residents of Alytus, but also in the eyes of the whole of Lithuania.
