P. Dimša graduated from Veisiejai High School in 1958 and in 1977 from the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (St. Petersburg), where he acquired the specialty of film and television director.

In 1965, together with the poet Martynas Vainilaitis, he founded the Boy’s Pea Theater. Since 1971 he works on Lithuanian television.

He has been a director and actor in many television movies. He has starred in popular television series such as Relatives, Dapkas, and Butkai. He has published several books of poetry.

July 17, 2013 while intoxicated while driving a car, a cyclist was fatally run over. March 3, 2015, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison for this incident, but was released in 2018 by decision of the Kaunas Regional Court.
