“Belarusians and Russians have always been close neighbors and friends. I am sure they will continue to be so in the future. Unfortunately, Russian propaganda is trying to distort events in Belarus as much as possible. I urge you not to give in to its influence. A lie and to know the real reason why the Belarusian people are demanding the departure of Lukashenko, “begins S. Cichanouskaya.
According to her, Aliaksandr Lukashenko ran in the 2020 presidential elections without the possibility of re-election and without real support due to the prolonged economic crisis and the reluctance of citizens to endure the lack of fundamental rights and freedoms.
“Therefore, Lukashenko has chosen the only tactic he knows of is to prevent independent candidates from running, imprisoning and deporting them, as well as abandoning the services of international observers and preventing Belarusian citizens from observing the elections legally,” he said.
Despite these actions, Cichanouskaya said, Lukashenko lost the election and completely falsified his results.
“Thousands of violations have been identified and there are cases in which the results are completely opposite in neighboring areas. In one – 90 percent. for S. Cichanouskaya, and in the other – 90 percent. for Mr. Lukashenko. This is against common sense, “Cichanouskaya said.
The opposition leader also stressed that Lukashenko is not only recognized by most foreign countries, but also by Belarusians themselves, who took to the streets in droves to protest the falsified election results.
According to Cichanouskaya, the people of Belarus demand three simple things: Lukashenko’s withdrawal, fair elections with all candidates, and the release of political prisoners.
“It just came to our attention then. This was not a fight against Russia. Do not believe that the propaganda media and politicians claim otherwise. It is very important not to damage relations between our nations. Belarusians are determined to maintain good relations with all their neighbors, “says the candidate for the presidency of Belarus in the video.
“We Belarusians are very grateful to the Russians, who already support the nation’s resistance to the dictator that it illegally maintains. We will not forget any gesture or action of solidarity. Thanks for that! I would like to thank independent Russian journalists and bloggers in particular for their attention to events in our country, for their willingness to speak to ordinary Belarusians and for conveying their views. Such actions really help reduce the impact of Russian and Belarusian propaganda, hinder the divisions between our nations.
Let us not allow propaganda to poison friendly relations between peoples and let the reckless decision of politicians harm the interests of both Belarus and Russia. Support the Belarusian people, ”says S. Cichanouskaya in his video.
In Belarus on August 9. Presidential elections were held, the results of which are considered rigged.
As soon as the first voting results were announced, massive protests broke out in Minsk and other Belarusian cities, escalating into clashes with the militiamen. Thousands of people were arrested and many protesters were injured. S. Cichanouskaja herself left Belarus on the night of August 11 and is currently in Lithuania.
