Refusal by a breeder from Meldiklaukiai village: he complained to the police that officials had stolen his dogs

The animal rescue operation took place on Saturday when residents learned of a possibly illegal kennel near Lauksargiai.

More than ten dogs were found on the high fenced farm, some of them are in cages in terrible condition.

Police officers were summoned to the scene, veterinarian Ligita Baracevičiūtė rushed in, and specialists from the Tauragė Department of the State Food and Veterinary Service finally arrived.

After assessing the situation, the experts concluded that some of the dogs were considered unsuitable and were taken away.

After this liberation operation, the owner of the kennel, born in 1980, went to the police with a statement.

He complained that a Husqvarna 445 saw and a cable about 20 meters long had been stolen from his barn.

The statement states that 8 legally acquired breeding dogs and the “Private Property” metal sign were taken from his farm building.

He calculated the loss at € 7,575. Upon receipt of the statement, the officials launched a pre-trial investigation for the theft under article 178 of the Penal Code.
