Germany will allocate up to half a million euros to new ammunition depots in Lithuania

At the Ministry of National Defense, Deputy Minister Eimutis Misiūnas and German Ambassador to Lithuania Matthias Sonnas signed an agreement providing for this, the Ministry of National Defense announced on Monday.

These funds are allocated to Lithuania free of charge under the German government program “Ensuring and strengthening the security, defense and stability of partner countries”.

“A joint investment in the capabilities of our common alliance. Today this is a small part of the design, amounting to about 100 million. euros for defense infrastructure in Lithuania, ”said the German ambassador.

New ammunition depots will be designed in most military units of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

Another 1 million is planned. The Lithuanian Armed Forces will allocate euros for design work.

In 2018, Germany provided 1 million for free. EUR to modernize the infrastructure of the landfills of Pabradė and Gaižiūnai, installed multifunctional firing ranges.

Germany leads and allocates the largest number of troops for deterrence and defense purposes to the Battle Group of the NATO Front Battalion deployed to Rukla in 2017, and the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Lithuanian Armed Forces is assigned to one of the Divisions of the German Armed Forces.
