“This year, the sacred spaces of Šiluva flourished with special intensity. Blue and purple hydrangeas predominate. The colors were chosen at random. Blue is not only St. The color of the Virgin Mary, but at the same time it symbolizes peace, spirituality, peace, latitude and beyond. Up to 66 bundles of straw were used to decorate the outer altar, which were brought in and helped install by a local farmer.
Between them we placed the shoemakers who came from the dunes of Pervalka. Straw is a symbol of uninterrupted life, and its abundance is like an allusion to the work done and a rich harvest ”, says the author of the decoration concept Evelina Grėbliauskė.
More than a thousand multicolored flowers were used to extract the play of colors: leukadendrons, lilies, carnations, dolphins, gerberas, downy mildew, pampas, dahlias, lemurs, hydrangeas, etc. According to the florist, many people even ask if these flowers are artificial. Many are used to the fact that bright colors are often unnatural.
Evelina says that every year she works only with live and even unpainted flowers, because the goal is to reveal the true and living beauty of nature.
“We believe that bright colors will delight the eyes and hearts of people from afar, give them optimism, make them smile. From the abundance of flowers, everyone will find a beautiful flower for themselves, ”the florist hopes.
Challenges and technical solutions
According to E. Grėbliauskė, decorating sacred spaces requires specific knowledge, which a future florist must acquire. Plants must remain decorative throughout all indulgences, so various technical solutions are sought when composing them.
“The biggest challenge this year was putting together a wreath in the Chapel of the Apocalypse after St. At the feet of the Virgin Mary. It was necessary to climb very high, to lift the heavy constructions of the angels to be successful in carrying out his idea.
So the work of a florist is not only very pleasant and easy. We also learn to mix concrete, work with metal, plaster and other diverse materials, ”says Evelina, adding that floristics is seen as an art, new forms and compositions are sought, and it keeps up with the latest trends.
Practice and spiritual bliss
Florist Evelina is glad that every year students and even graduates voluntarily join Šiluva decoration work. By working hard, they not only improve their practical skills, but also get to know authentic places and experience special feelings.
“It is a completely unique experience. Working at night in such a special place makes us feel elevated, like a family. Such an experience not only enhances professional mastery, but is also spiritually enriching. Each year, traditionally, Šiluva becomes a second home for us for a week, where we feel our own needs, ”says the florist Evelina in a press release.
On September 6, the King Mindaugas PMC Florist Decoration Concept was introduced. Chapel of the Revelation of Šiluva. The Metropolitan Archbishop of Kaunas Kęstutis Kėvalas, the PMC King Mindaugas community and guests from the city participated. The Great St. The faithful will invite the faithful to the birth of the Virgin Mary (Šiliniai) until September 15.
