The stolen cars in Sweden didn’t end up in Belarus just thanks to the Lavoriškės border guards

On Saturday after midnight, the Lavoriškės firebreak officers from the Vilnius border team of the SBGS inspected the Lithuanian truck at the Lavoriškės checkpoint. The vehicle with German registration was driven by a 30-year-old Belarusian citizen with the proper travel documents.

The inspection revealed that the three transported cars were suspected of being stolen. Toyota Camry, manufactured in 2018 this year. Swedish police were looking for the Audi A6 and the Volkswagen Tiguan from the same year.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched in the SBGS Vilnius Border Guard team regarding the acquisition or sale of property obtained for crimes. This is punishable by a fine or restriction of liberty, or arrest or imprisonment for up to two years.

After questioning, the Belarusian citizen was released by border guards. He was in preventive custody and had a written commitment not to leave. The cars are stored at the Vilnius border team.
