The United States’ Democratic presidential candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden, has reached a significant gap with the re-elected leader of the Republican party Donald Trump, the country’s current president, according to polls.
This is evidenced by the results of a sociological poll published on Sunday, where the sociological research service YouGov placed a television order from September 2-4.
Respondents were asked which politicians they would support in the presidential election if they could choose now. 52% of the voters who voted said they would vote for J. Biden and 42% for D. Trump. About 3% of those polled said they would vote for another candidate, and the same proportion said they did not support any politician.
49% of Baiden supporters said they would essentially vote for Trump, and 32% would vote because they like the former US vice president. In turn, 73% of Trump voters said they would vote again mainly because they like the current president and 18% because they don’t like Biden.
The YouGov poll drew about 2,500 voters across the country.
The fact that Biden surpasses Trump in terms of popularity with voters is also reflected in other polls of American voters conducted in recent weeks, but the latest poll revealed the largest gap to date.
The 59th US presidential election is scheduled for November 3.
