According to Vilma Drulienė, Commercial Manager of Maxima LT, the prices of 500 Lithuanian products have been reduced by 15% since Tuesday. According to her, 50 manufacturers joined the initiative.

It is mentioned that among the 500 popular low-priced Lithuanian products are mainly dairy and meat products, bread, dry groceries, fish and their products, confectionery and culinary products, cosmetics and hygiene products.

“The growth in sales of goods manufactured in Lithuania will help maintain and perhaps increase the production volumes of Lithuanian companies, preserve and perhaps create new jobs and, of course, facilitate competition with imported products,” said V. Drulienė at the press conference.

For how long the prices will drop, she did not mention, but said it was constant prices.

According to Valdas Lopeta, Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications for Lidl Lithuania, network prices are constantly being revised and the prices of some products have already been reduced.

“We have recently reduced the prices of butter, fresh meat, meat products and eggs,” he told BNS.

Retail chain Iki says that last week it was decided to provide more support to local producers, so starting this week some products in stores will be cheaper and their list is constantly expanding.

According to Indrė Baltrušaitienė, Head of Communications at Iki, prices also remained unchanged throughout April.

According to Ieva Gindrėnė, Head of the Commercial Department at Rimi Lietuvos, negotiations with suppliers are ongoing. Norfa spokeswoman Darius Ryliškis emphasizes that prices fluctuate and are constantly reviewed.
