Cichanouskaya also called on the international community to impose sanctions on those responsible for electoral fraud and violence in the country.

“I call on the international community to use the full mechanism to end violence, including sanctions against people who have committed violations and crimes against humanity during the elections,” he said.

According to Chichanouskaya, current president Aliaksandr Lukashenko “is no longer a representative of Belarus.”

“The people of Belarus are a law-abiding, peaceful and responsible people with a great sense of dignity,” added the former presidential candidate.

According to her, the people of Belarus are ready to dialogue “with all countries that respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Belarus.”

Cichanouskaya also spoke about the need to hold a special meeting of the UN Human Rights Council to discuss the situation in Belarus.

He also called for the condemnation of the excessive use of force by the Belarusian security services against the protesters.

“Now we, the people of Belarus, need the help of the UN to stop the scandalous violations of human rights and the cynical disregard for the right to human dignity in the heart of Europe,” he added.

Belarus has been protesting for almost a month since the August 9 presidential elections, which were won by authoritarian leader Lukashenko, who has run the country since 1994. The opposition and Western countries consider these elections rigged.
