A Kaunas resident detained after the capture is suspected of driving a stolen BMW 535D in the Netherlands.
On Thursday, Kalvarija border guard officers from the VarGna border team of the SBGS stopped the BMW car of the fifth series with German numbers, which had just entered Poland, within the limits of the village of Akmeniai in the district of Lazdijai. Its driver disobeyed the uniformed border guards on the side of the road next to the official Škoda Octavia Scout car and flew towards Lazdijai.
The border guards caught up with him with flashing lights and sound signals. The fugitive jumped from the SBGS officers at a speed in excess of 170 km / h.
About 5 km from the stop, border guards saw an extremely powerful diesel in the BMW 535D as it pulled off the road and into a ditch.

The fugitive is suspected of attempting to turn from the main road to the side road, but did not control the car due to high speed.
By the time the border guards raced toward the BMW 535D, the driver had already left. SBGS officials promised to inspect the forest that grows here. Shortly after, half a kilometer from where BMW took the road, SBGS officials stopped the man hiding in the woods.
It turned out he was a 23-year-old Kaunas resident suspected of driving a BMW. Calvary border guards soon found out that this 2011 search for the show car as stolen was announced the day before by Dutch officials.
A pre-trial investigation has been launched in the Varėna border team of the SBGS in relation to the acquisition or sale of criminally obtained assets. Such a crime is punishable by a fine or arrest, or imprisonment for up to 4 years.
The detained Kaunas residents were detained by border guards and were still questioned at noon on Friday.
The BMW 535D is stored at the Calvary border barrier.
