LSMU professor Alvydas Laiškonis says that people were too relaxed and many examples can be found.

“We are really very relaxed and somehow we get used to the fact that we don’t have a lot of mortality, so people very calmly accept all the anti-epidemic measures that are offered to us and do not follow them. I would like to give some examples that show relaxation. On Saturday, I was at the Kaunas Musical Theater, there was a premiere of “My Great Lady”, when in the light of the geso, people took off their masks and the whole performance, for four hours, was without a mask. According to him, people have already forgotten all the measures that can help fight the spread of the coronavirus.

“Scientists are still debating what is the immunity of people with diseases, how long does it last, today we cannot say how long is a year or a half. (…) Researchers from the Kaunas University of Technology calculated that if the number of deaths were higher, there would be a person who died in every family and close environment, then people would think that some kind of anti-epidemic measures should be taken. Now the morbidity is not high, there are no such people in the environment and we have completely forgotten about all the anti-epidemic measures that are offered to us, ”says A. Laiškonis.

According to him, the organization of events should be more closely monitored and some should be abandoned entirely.

“I think we should give up the events that are not necessary. For example, a white dinner was organized in Vilnius; after all, such an event is the best way to do it and such an event can be postponed to next year, ”he says.

Problems with asymptomatic cases.

When asked when to test if we were in contact with a suspicious person, the professor advised not to rush to do it right away.

“We are wrong because after being infected with coronavirus, it takes three, five or seven days for the processes to be carried out, as you can see, even the incubation period is up to two weeks, so it would not be advisable to do the test right away and wait three five days or a week, ”explained the teacher.

One of the big problems is asymptomatic cases and family trouble spots.

“We do not suspect that people with an asymptomatic form are ill, which has caused the spread of family fires. In large events, in institutions, we can track who has been infected, and in family fireplaces it is very difficult to track down the source of that infection ”, explained the interlocutor. “It is that hidden part of the iceberg, because we only recognize its upper part, the diseases, but it is difficult to say what is happening in our families, what is happening in our society.”

According to him, when the fuel shows that even after a coronavirus, the symptoms can be felt after two or three years.

“The first autopsies performed on patients show that the lung tissue hardens, the lungs retain their shape due to so-called connective tissue. (…) If the connective tissue that surrounds our alveoli hardens, we will not notice all the results, such as shortness of breath, heaviness in the chest and all the other symptoms, until two or three years later ”, says the interviewee.

Diseases can increase

When asked if it was possible that in a few weeks, when the students returned to school, we would see a sharp increase in the disease again, the interlocutor assured that it could be so.
