According to the media, Andrei Ravkov, secretary of the Belarusian Security Council, and Ivan Tertel, head of the State Audit Office, were also fired.

Subsequently, the Belarusian national news agency BelTa announced new positions held by two high-ranking officials dismissed.

Following A. Lukashenko’s decision, the former KGB president became Secretary of the Security Council and I. Tertelis assumed the chairmanship of the State Security Committee, writes rbc.ru.

The change of position in Belarus became apparent shortly before the visit of a Russian government delegation with Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to Minsk.

September 4 Major General Viktor Chrenin, Belarus’ defense minister, is scheduled to visit Moscow. According to the Defense Ministry, he is scheduled to attend a meeting of the Defense Ministers of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

“The participation of the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus in this meeting will allow further gradual cooperation in accordance with national interests and priorities,” said the Ministry of Defense.
