Due to this coronavirus outbreak, the entire city of Nemenčinė was temporarily closed: only people who live and work here can enter the city, and city residents cannot leave, except those who go to work. During the peak of the outbreak, the company, which had about 310 employees, was forced to suspend operations for two weeks.

The director of the company said that no one would like the kind of experience the company had. According to him, at first it was not very successful to communicate with NVSC, but then the company received the support of the center and everything was on track.

He said that in such a case, if a coronavirus case was confirmed at the company, the NVSC would first receive a call with a brief instruction on what to do.

“First of all, isolating a person, establishing contact persons, there must be a relatively close and fluid work with the NVSC,” he said.

He mentioned that in the case of his company, urgent decisions were made to investigate all employees. That investigation, he said, should be organized in a few hours.

The employer assured that prevention is very important, but an individual approach is needed and the risks are best known to the company’s employees.

“What I would like to emphasize is going to and from work. In our case, many workers share transportation and even have to wear personal protective equipment upon arrival. In the past, people thought: the company requires that I wear a mask only when I get to the door. I would suggest that everyone pay attention to how employees come and go from work, ”said the company director.

According to R.Jackevičius, whenever possible, people should have the opportunity to work from home.

He also recommended recording the results of employee temperature measurements, as well as monitoring how many people in the company take sick leave.

“We saw that the number of people who took a job in the company per week doubled. It can also be a good indication that some processes are taking place in the company,” the entrepreneur shared his experience.

Every week, according to him, in “Vilnik” people are given to fill out a questionnaire asking if they have not been in contact with the sick to travel abroad.

Another important thing, he said, is training. Employees need to be explained how to use masks correctly, what distances to follow, even how to wash their hands.

“I suggest that everyone take an interest in preventive tests. Because one of our problems was that the first case was identified too late and, despite the measures taken, the virus spread widely,” R. Jackevičius shared his bitter experience.
