Currently, teachers of music, physical culture, art, English and Lithuanian language and mathematics do not have the highest number of jobs, according to the report of the Employment Service.
There were one and a half times more openings for primary school teachers than 302 and 464, respectively.
The supply of primary education teachers (those seeking work in primary education) was the one that increased the most (75.8%) compared to the same period in 2019. This year, 40.7% were looking for work as an education teacher primary school and high school. more than last year. The teachers were mainly looking for a job as a teacher of physical education, English, music, art and Lithuanian.
The largest excess supply (for those seeking employment as teachers) was recorded in the following groups of professions: for those seeking employment as physical education teachers: 10.2 times more than the registered vacancies; art – 5.2 times more, religion – 3 times more, works – 2.7 times more, German – 2.5 times more, music – 2.4 times more.
This year, Vilnius schools lacked physics and astronomy teachers; the professors of this discipline had a real opportunity to meet in class on September 1, since there were twice as many job offers as there were jobseekers. In the capital, 42 vacancies for English teachers were registered, 77 English teachers were looking for work, 17 job offers for music teachers and 55 people were unemployed. It is difficult to find employment for 38 art teachers, who only had two job offers, 24 for biology specialists: 4 vacancies and 12 for 21 unemployed mathematicians. This year, there were a total of 164 job offers for 482 job-seeking teachers in Vilnius County.
The Kaunas region has a more favorable situation for Lithuanian and German language teachers: the number of job offers is almost equal to the number of job seekers (14 jobs for 16 Lithuanian specialists and 4 for 4 specialists in German) It is more difficult to find work, according to the Employment Service, for teachers of physical education, music and art. , whose market demand is three to four times less.
In the Klaipėda region, math teachers have good job opportunities: there are 18 vacancies for 6 job seekers, Lithuanians – 20 job seekers and 14 job seekers, chemistry – 10 vacancies and only 3 job seekers. However, 44 physical education teachers, who had only 2 jobs, have trouble finding employment.
In the Šiauliai region there are more job offers for biologists (6 positions and 2 job applicants), chemistry teachers – (5 jobs and 1 job applicant). The situation is good enough for history teachers: 6 vacancies for 7 job applicants.
In the Telšiai region, there are three times more offers for biology teachers than for registered job applicants (6 and 2, respectively). Average working conditions for English teachers are also 7 jobs and 6 unemployed.
Among all the counties in the Panevėžys region, the demand for teachers is the lowest: only 12 vacancies for 87 teachers seeking employment. Utena – 17 job offers, of which 9 were for Lithuanian language teachers and 7 Lithuanian job seekers were looking for work, a total of 59 people with pedagogical education were offered.
There are 20 job openings and 75 registered job applicants in Alytus County, where there is a glut of physical education teachers (17) and no jobs. However, there is a shortage of chemistry and choreography teachers in this region and there are no job seekers. It is also difficult for teachers to get a job in the Marijampolė region, where 16 vacancies were registered and 68 teachers were looking for work.
In Tauragė County, the balance between supply and demand is higher: 40 teachers and 19 vacant positions. There is a shortage of physics and astronomy teachers, good job opportunities for English, math and music teachers; almost the same amount is looking for work and registered jobs.
