“Participants have better opportunities to prepare for their chosen field of study. For example, if a student intends to choose chemistry or physics for his studies, he will be able to concentrate on a more intensive study of these subjects, ”says Minister A. Monkevičius.

2022 Those entering higher education institutions must pass three state maturity exams: Lithuanian language and literature, mathematics and an elective. The minimum passing level for the state maturity exams is 16 points.

The exception is art studies, the average of those who will enter them will be calculated only from two state maturity exams: Lithuanian language and literature and free choice.

Other requirements will remain the same as in 2020. Admission to universities and colleges will take into account not only the results of the state entrance maturity tests, but also the average of the annual grades. Admissions will be open to universities with an average grade of at least 7 in five compulsory subjects and a minimum of 6 in colleges.

The average is calculated by selecting the five best assessments from the eight subjects listed in the appendix of the certificate of maturity: Lithuanian language and literature; mother tongues (Belarusian, Polish, Russian or German); Foreign language; maths; history or geography, or an integrated course in history and geography; a course in biology or physics or chemistry or an integrated science course; a subject in the field of arts education or a program in the field of technology, or an integrated course in arts and technology, or a subject in a specialized field of education (art or engineering, or art or music); a physical education subject or a chosen sport, or a program in a specialized field of study (sport).

Minimum indicators are required for applicants for state-funded places of study. Applicants for non-state funded places of study must have passed at least one state maturity exam.

As established by the Law of Sciences and Studies, the minimum requirements for admission to higher education institutions are approved annually two years in advance.
