“President Nausėda does not rule out the possibility of direct communication if certain conditions are met. Contacts through the embassy are natural diplomatic contacts that are well established and generally work very well. However, if necessary, direct contact is also possible, ”the advisor told LRT Radio.
At the same time, he confirmed that after the President of Lithuania proposed to establish a national council of the Belarusian government and representatives of civil society to resolve the crisis in Belarus, there was no response from the Minsk official.
“A response is still awaited,” admitted A. Skaisgirytė.
As G. Nausėda said on Wednesday, he coordinated the three-point plan with the leaders of Latvia and Poland. According to him, this could become a basis for stabilizing the situation in Belarus.
The plan calls on the Belarusian authorities to end violence against citizens, release detainees, and resume dialogue with the public.
“First, the Belarusian authorities stop using force against their citizens and aggravate the situation. Second, the Belarusian authorities are releasing thousands of detainees, all protesters who have been repressed so far.
Third, the Belarusian authorities are resuming dialogue with their civil society. An adequate solution in this direction could be the formation of a kind of national council of the government and representatives of civil society, whose objective would be to seek solutions to overcome the crisis, ”said the president on Wednesday.
