“After evaluating the latest data, navigation risks and technical capabilities of the ship, the decision was made to suspend the ship ‘Raketa’ from August 13 to 16,” announced the company that operates the ship.
Those who have purchased tickets can return them, exchange them to later dates, or take a bus to Curonian Spit.
The ship sails to shore three times a week: it will depart Kaunas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and depart from Nida on Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
The rebuilt ship was solemnly launched in Kaunas a year ago and began sailing towards the coast in June this year. Although trips to Nida were supposed to start as early as last year, it was not possible to obtain a certificate confirming the ship’s class, which was required by the Transportation Security Administration.
Previously it was announced that investments in this route amounted to more than 100,000. euros.
During the Soviet era, there were about ten high-speed rockets in Lithuania. Most of them sailed on the route from Kaunas to the coast. Regular sailing by high-speed boats ceased in 1995.
