The Lithuanian women’s team with Jocyte in the square did not equal the 16-year-old boys

The Lithuanian women’s basketball team thus completed a two-week preparation camp. The students of the national team head coach Mantas Šernius combined physical preparation with work on the basketball court.

In the unofficial match between the women of the day before (Friday 7th August), the “White” team was superior, defeating the “Green” team with the result 75:70.

The candidates for the Lithuanian U16 youth team are preparing for the Huawei Baltic Cup tournament. It will take place in Kaunas from 14 to 16 August and will feature the national teams of Latvia, Estonia and two from Lithuania: Balti and Žali.

It is interesting that on Saturday Rokas Jocys played in the U16 men’s team, and her sister Justė Jocytė played in the women’s team.

The top five women Kamilė Nacickaitė, Laura Juškaitė, Gintarė Petronytė, Laurita Jurčiūtė and Giedrė Labuckienė started the match without success and the boys – Gediminas Alisas, Domantas Šarauskas, Dominykas Grenda, R. Jocys and Kajus Leliukas – immediately ran 0:13. Only after playing for 3 min. for women, the first points were scored by K. Nacickaitė (2:13). Thanks to the efforts of her and Audronė Zdanevičiūtė, the women’s team recovered somewhat (6:21). The boys outscored the rivals in intensity and only in the first 10 minutes. He even scored 17 points on a quick attack. After the first half, the U16 boys led – 30:12.

After Jocytė’s throw-in in the second quarter, the women were 17 points behind (18:35). The boys clearly dominated the fight under the baskets and after another 14: 0 streak away from the opponents (51:20). After K. Leliukas’ two innings in a row, the 16-year-olds led by 33 points (55:22). After 20 min. the women’s team of the game lagged behind – 12:59 pm.

Although the third part started with points from G. Petronytė under the basket (26:59), the boys dictated their terms (26:63). G. Petronytė and K. Nacickaitė demonstrated their dominance (30:63). It is true that the youngsters responded with a series of precise long shots (32:79). After 30 minutes. the teams obtained 51 points – 34:85.

The last half was already just a formality. The basketball players of both national teams solved their tasks on the field (41:92, 45:94, 47:96). K. Nacickaitė scored the second triple for the women’s team (50:98) and D. Šarauskas scored the 100 point (52: 100). The women’s team suffered a defeat with a score of 54: 100, although they won the fourth (20:15).
