Andrius Gaidys, general secretary of the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation, is happy with the mood of the girls and does not want to stop halfway: I wish everyone did not stop, because there is still a lot of work and indelible impressions to see on behalf of the Lithuanian team ”.

The 21 most promising volleyball players from all over Lithuania were invited to the camp. Jolita Kontvainienė, the coach of the Lithuanian youth team, was delighted that the team received a lot of attention and not even everyone who was willing could be accepted.

“Since most of the players came from youth volleyball (4×4), the team had to mold itself from scratch. We had great attendees. I really liked that the young Lithuanians willingly helped us to play sports. Recognized network workers made comments, working together willingly. Of course, there was a lot of innovation for the girls. I immediately saw who was quickly adapting to the new instructions and who was slower, ”said J. Kontvainienė.

During the camp, one of the best Lithuanian volleyball players, Akvilė Šebežiova, Audrius Knašas, Patrikas Stankevičius, Matas Navickas, worked with the most talented Lithuanian volleyball players.

“We organized the work of the girls according to the positions of the network workers mentioned above. There was separate work with feeds, with receptions. The work was done very well,” smiled J. Kontvainienė, who was assisted by coaches Raimundas Pocius and Aleksandras Volobujevas during the camp.

The highlight of the camp was a mini-tournament with fellow Latvians. Although the Latvians have been playing sports together for a long time and have much better conditions, the Lithuanian youth team has won three victories from four matches.

“During the game, the objective was to see how the girls adapt to the new instructions, how they integrate into the game. Accordingly, we select a player for the national team, – said J. Kontvainienė. – We only had the first 10 practice sessions, and the Latvians boasted that this is their third camp this year. Our team was completely unpolished, due to lack of time we hardly worked with the passes, but we managed to win three victories. I would say that the result is very good. Of course, I am realistic and I know that it is a sport: one day you win, the next, you win. The Latvians, to my knowledge, have already met in another camp, and we will only be able to choose on weekends. However, we will work and prepare for a trip back to Latvia. Our girls are very willing to train, they are motivated, that is why we hope that they work with such intensity, that they do not lag behind their neighbors. “

The coach admits that this new generation of volleyball stands out for its data. By putting together a good and strong team, you can expect good results in the European Championship selection.

“The current generation is not falling behind the standards of volleyball. Most of the players are tall and well built. And they also lack diligence and motivation. I wrote my thanks to the players’ coaches for the excellent players, who are not only talented athletes, but also cultural people, ”the coach emphasized.

It is important for the Lithuanian network that new talents appear in various corners of Lithuania. If previously the young girls’ volleyball team consisted of women from Kaunas, now, in addition to representatives from the temporary capital, volleyball players from Vilnius, Kelmė, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Jonava are applying.

“The wide geography means there are more options, and when there are many options, better results can be expected,” expected J. Kontvainienė.

The enthusiasm and dedication of the coaches and players also left a great impression on the LTF leaders.

First of all, we want to be glad that after a long time we get a message from the coaches that forming a team becomes a difficult task: there are a lot of good data girls and there are a limited number of teams, it is not easy to determine the composition. This is a great sign. In August, the girls will go to the competition back in Latvia, it will be very interesting to know how the girls will fare outside the walls of their houses and what the final line-up of the girls will be like. We would like to thank the coaches, because we are very happy that with the current situation of high performance sports in Lithuania and the current funding, we still see the enthusiasm of the coaching staff and the desire to compete with other countries. We would like to thank the coaches for their initiative and everyone’s effort to form a new girls’ team under the current conditions and the unwavering desire to achieve results in Europe. It is especially gratifying that young and promising players and coaches participate in the preparation process at the initiative of experienced coaches. We believe that the joint effort of all will give long-term results, that is why we want not to stop on this difficult path ”, A. Gaidys thanked the team coaches.
