The video shows the road from Vilnius to Druskininkai. The traffic in two lanes of traffic is heavy, there are many trucks and cars. Drivers who drive more frequently in this direction know that the road here is congested, but it is narrow, it is difficult to turn on it, so there are no accidents.
Not a single accident has resulted in fatalities, and the most common cause of accidents is driving in the opposite lane regardless of how far the car is, how fast other road users are moving.
Still, the video shows that suddenly the driver of a car filming a road with a video recorder steps to the side and retreats to the sidewalk. The reason soon becomes clear: Ignoring the solid line on the road that prohibits turning, the driver of the Volkswagen Passat rushes forward.
The driver of the German truck completely ignores the fact that in the opposite lane there is a speeding tractor and behind it some other cars. The man drives in the middle of the road, forcing the other users to withdraw.
Its folding does not end in an accident, but Delfi remembers that there have been many accidents on this road. Former Interior Minister Eimutis Misiūnas was involved in an accident here a few years ago. This time, the driver, who was leaning over a large column of cars, could not find a safe space to return to his lane, and he lined up in such a way that he almost pushed the car driven by E. Misiūnas off the road.
Call it dangerous
Rytis Vosylius, Chief Investigator of the Division of Traffic Supervision and Administrative Activities of the Lithuanian Highway Police Service (LKPT), told Delfi that what was successful for the driver driving in the direction of Druskininkai can be considered dangerous driving.
These activities are defined in article 420 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Refers to driving in the event of simultaneous or consecutive road safety violations (KET), crouching in areas where it is prohibited to do so, dangerous situations that require other road users to change speed, direction or take other measures on their behalf. bill. or to ensure the safety of other people, in addition to causing a dangerous situation when entering the opposite lane, is called dangerous driving.
According to R. Vosylius, such behavior carries a fine of 170-230 euros for the driver, as well as a mandatory disqualification from driving for 3-6 months.
