You can lie on the beach at Lukiškės Square from the end of June. However, as of August 1, this pleasure should cease. Because the Lukiškės Square law passed by the Seimas comes into force, therefore, the sand square should no longer be present.
However, the capital’s authorities are not preparing to destroy the beach, and the Seimas is calling on the government and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis to do the same.

The law passed by Parliament explains that the commemorative accents on Lukiškės Square should reflect Lithuania’s struggles for independence and the memory of dead combatants.
Ramūnas Karbauskis, the leader of the rulers, explains that the order in the square must now be made by the Government.
“The loan contract with the municipality of Vilnius must be terminated and, in this case, the municipality will lose the right to take any action in this plaza. This will be the correct decision, since they cannot supervise this plaza or administer it in accordance with the law, ”LVŽS President R. Karbauskis explained to LNK news journalists.
The leader of the rulers promises quick solutions, after which Vytis will appear instead of the beach in Lukiškės Square.
As Lukiškės Square is now seen, the opposition does not like it now.
Audronius Ažubalis, a representative of the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), says that the removal of sand from Lukiškės Square should become a matter of honor for Prime Minister S. Skvernelis.
“It must be remembered that in 2015 it appears that the municipality and the Government signed an agreement by which Lukiškės Square was transferred to the municipality through a loan agreement, provided that it is arranged, and a monument was built to those who died for the freedom of Lithuania. And we see what has ended, “he said.
Although the law has already entered into force, Remigijus Šimašius, the mayor of Vilnius, who opened the beach, is not going to remove the sand. He says the beach does not intersect with the law that went into effect.
“We have studied this law in great detail with our attorneys. And I can say that the beach will be like the previous one and you will enjoy life. Because it complies with the principles of “good morals”, the Vytis flag flies there. And some strange obligations to the institutions that supervise something, it is necessary to go look (rape, aut. P.), it seems very strange, “he said.
The beach, in the part of Lukiškės Square, near Gediminas Avenue, was installed in mid-June. R. Šimašius says it will be until autumn.
