Instantly understand

  • The President is elected by the Conference for a period of four years.
  • The president may be re-elected, but not more than three terms in total.
  • Only LFF members can nominate candidates for the presidency. Members must provide the Secretary General in writing with information about the proposed candidate, indicating their first and last name, at least 20 (twenty) calendar days before the Conference. The General Secretariat informs LFF members announcing the names of the proposed candidates at least 7 (seven) days before the Conference.
  • The members of LFF are 8 branches (referees, children and youth, futsal, mass soccer, women’s soccer, training of soccer coaches, club associations, players) and 10 regional associations. The Association of Children and Youth Soccer is currently suspended.
  • Each member will send five delegates to the Conference, who will have one vote.
  • The candidate chosen for the office of LFF President shall be deemed to have received more than half the votes of all the delegates who voted at the Conference in the first round.
  • If no candidate obtains the required majority on the first ballot, a second ballot (second ballot) will be held immediately for the two candidates who receive the most votes. The candidate who obtains the majority of the votes will be considered elected. When the candidates receive the same number of votes, they will be voted on again.
  • If a candidate has participated in the first round and has not received the required number of votes, a reelection will be held no later than two months later. Until these re-elections, the mandate of the current president is extended.

Candidate ideas and statute proposals. During the conference, not only will the president be elected, but a new version of the LFF bylaws will also be approved. The fields of both candidates have offered a separate project.

Project proposed by T. Danilevičius and the Executive Committee It is cosmetic. One of the most interesting proposals is to elect LFF Vice Presidents not for the Conference, but for the Executive Committee. The Vice President of the LFF assumes the functions of the President when he cannot carry out his functions. It also aims to weaken the role of the auditor, who would no longer be accountable to the Conference. The third important proposal is to abandon the annual organization of the Football Forum and reserve the right to decide when and how (and in any case) to organize it.

VRFS, chaired by P. Malžinskas, provides a much more radical draft of amendments to the Articles of Association, according to which clubs would have more influence in the management of the LFF. Clubs participating in the A League Championship, I League Championship, II League Championship, Lithuanian Hall Football A League Championship and / or Lithuanian Women’s A League Championship are proposed to become direct members of LFF.

Vilnius residents also propose to abandon the compulsory dispute settlement procedure at the International Court of Arbitration for Sport and transfer the settlement of disputes to Lithuania, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport under the Vilnius Court of Commercial Arbitration.

It is also proposed to return more powers to the LFF Conference and to establish the post of Secretary General of the LFF to be appointed on the recommendation of the President. The Secretary General is currently appointed by the Executive Committee.

Final. The most important question must be answered before the conference begins. There is no doubt that T. Danilevičius, who has the strong support of the members of the Executive Committee and the most influential football figure in the country, Arūnas Pukelis, will continue to be the President of the LFF. P.Malžinskas will probably have to be satisfied with just five votes from the Vilnius region. Under the same scenario, the LFF presidential election took place four years ago, when Ben Renatas Baltusis, a representative from the capital who tried to compete with Edwin Eimont, received only five votes.

Boycott. On the eve of the elections, the Utena County Football Federation released a statement in which its president Nemunas Dagilis stated that the people of Utena had decided to ignore these elections and would not vote for any candidate. N. Dagilis hinted that he wanted to nominate the candidate of Lithuanian soccer legend David Šember, but declined to participate in the election campaign. “None of these candidates is a person who can unite Lithuanian football at this time,” said N. Dagilis.
