Court: the pastor-farmer negligently handled the accounting of his farm and parish money

The pre-trial investigation in this case was carried out by officials of the Šiauliai and Panevėžys Regional Boards of the Financial Crime Investigation Service, and Kęstutis Greiciūnas, the prosecutor of the Second Prosecution Division of the Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor’s Office, directed and supported state prosecution in court.

During the pre-trial investigation, investigators collected data that, as the owner of a registered farm in the Anykščiai district, SF was responsible for organizing the accounting and maintaining accounting documents, but did not take these mandatory actions, therefore, It is not possible to determine their agricultural activity, assets, liabilities and structure in 2003-2017, reports the Attorney General’s Office.

An investigation by FNTT officials found irregularities in the financial records of the parish, which has been pastor S.F. for almost three decades. As no information was collected on the monetary sacrifices donated by the faithful, the church dues were paid, it was not possible to determine the financial situation of this parish in 2010-2011 and 2015-2017.

During the pre-trial investigation, S. F. was also accused of illegally participating in large-scale financial activities, lending money at the interest of individuals and legal entities. However, S. F. acquitted the Utena District Court in Anykščiai in a verdict on Friday.

The court found S.F. negligence in maintaining the accounts of the parish and his personal farm and imposed a fine of 80 MGL (€ 3,120).
