According to Aistė Gedvilienė, member of the Seimas Environmental Protection Committee, the current Minister of the Environment Kęstutis Mažeika, 2018. The Seimas, by amending the Hunting Law and this time to legalize hunting with bows, received public opposition. K. Mažeika publicly promised at the Seimas session that this hunting tool would not be legalized and that there would be no such threat.
“However, this Friday, without any discussion, Minister K. Mažeika, without publicly announcing it, despite public opinion, unilaterally legitimized such a brutal method of hunting by his order.
Without further confidence in the Minister for the Environment, who has made false promises to the public, we intend to end this ministerial decision and, at the same time, the brutal and barbaric way of hunting by legal means. Therefore, we will appeal this Ministerial Order to the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania and present amendments to the Seimas Hunting Law, in which we clearly prohibit archery at the level of the law. It is surprising that such actions have to be stopped by legal means from a minister representing a party that declares “green” ideas on his behalf, “said Seimas member A. Gedvilienė.
Seimas members Aistė Gedvilienė and Mykolas Majauskas provide amendments to the Hunting Law, which states that the bow is a prohibited hunting tool. By registering an amendment, Seimas members from other factions will also be invited to support it.
