The House report says the prince is in stable condition and is being cared for by a French-born wife.

In 2008 Joachim married Marie Cavallier, with whom he had two children. The prince’s wife received the title of princess Marie.

Joachim also has two children from a previous marriage to Alexandra Manley, born in Hong Kong. The two separated in 2005, the first divorce in nearly 160 years in Europe’s oldest monarchy. The former spouse acquired the title of countess of Frederiksborg.

Earlier this month, the smiling Prince Joachim posed for photographers on the occasion of his oldest son’s 18th birthday at the Caisse Palace, the queen’s Danish residence in France.

Joachim is sixth in line to the Danish throne after his older brother, Crown Prince Frederick and their four children.
