The family returned from abroad after 5 years: we did not hear warnings that it will be difficult in Lithuania

Violeta Janutienė from Vilnius shared one of those stories with readers of the news portal tv3.lt. The woman left for Britain after her beloved Egidija, and the family returned to their homeland after the increase. A foreign-born daughter was one of the main arguments behind her return, but far from being the only one.

Living abroad

“At the time, my boyfriend, who is now my husband, lived in Vilnius, in a small apartment, we had a job. After graduation, I worked in my specialty. We both earned relatively well. However, the friend decided that he wanted to return to England to earn money, because he had left before.

Although I won well, I threw everything away, loaded my suitcase, and left my loved one a month later. This reason for emigration for me personally is love. The beginning was not difficult in another country. I knew the language. I got the job quickly. I worked in a flower garden. Later I was offered to work in an onion packing factory.

The employer appreciated my good knowledge of English because this job required a lot of speaking. I liked the work itself. I worked there for over 2 years. Later, at the same location, I received training to work as an administrator in the office. Probably the most difficult part was enduring stressful situations when there is a lot of work, few people and everything still has to be done to make the product lose quality. The same goes for working in the office. Working on the computer, conversations with clients, completing all kinds of tables, systems administration, etc. ”Said V. Janutienė.

Although we often hear about the colder attitude of foreign employers towards immigrants, according to V. Janutienė, she has not personally faced discrimination:

“The managers were polite and very friendly. It was possible to joke and talk. Of course, there was everything between colleagues, both barns and poor communications. But where are they not? However, the government changed, the people changed, the positions were reduced and the atmosphere became very unpleasant at work, so I left without stress.

I found another job. I worked in a sewing store where we sewed curtains with other women. The work was clean, without tension, the factory itself was warm. There were no special clothing requirements like before working in an onion factory. “

Joy in the family

While working at a sewing store, the woman learned the good news: “I soon became pregnant, we got married, we had a daughter, Golden Mary, who is now 2 years and 5 months old. In fact, with the birth of his daughter, the desire to return to the Homeland arose. Because we have seen that we cannot give our son what we could in Lithuania.

A great family, friends, nature and entertainment awaited in Lithuania. It is true that at first we continue to delay our return. We continue to find excuses to postpone. As a daughter, I began to work “on myself” in the specialty of a dance teacher.

I gathered a large group of Lithuanian children, rented the premises and started working. For many, I was the first teacher. I met wonderful children and wonderful parents. It was a shame to say goodbye. But after all the school years, we told ourselves that was enough. It’s pretty sad, I long for family, just to be there. “

According to Violeta, although she managed to earn well (the man worked in a logistics company, aut. Past), the money gave a feeling of comfort, but it did not bring hearts to life:

“It just came to our attention then. Everything is just as good. However, the phone communication with the grandparents, the baptismal daughter, and the daughter’s baptismal parents began to suffocate emotionally. She used to start” suffocating us, “but she You felt more as our daughter grew up and realized that this is not the environment we want for our daughter, after all, by yourself.

The return was interrupted by the quarantine

It has already happened that Violets with her daughter were the first to return to Lithuania.

“We went to Lithuania just before quarantine. We lived in a small town with one of our grandmothers. The patio is huge, the house is spacious, there is a lot of activity. I started to breathe, my heart was singing. But it was sad because the man he stayed to settle the last issues and then declared quarantine.

So we wait for a man for almost 4 months. It was hard. Alone man, just work and bed. It was not easy for us either, but the longing was enormous. But the quarantine ended and we have Dad. And then everything started to move forward. We bought a car, the man got a job, we settled in Vilnius, in a great new apartment.

Around the playground, many fellow children. Cultural life is just boiling. I was glad that after 5 years of emigration, I was able to sing the Lithuanian anthem in my country, with my family, on July 6. As the tears accumulated in my eyes, the chills ran through my body because I knew I was where I was fine, “said the interlocutor.

At the same time, Violeta adds that life abroad has certainly not been particularly bad: “I don’t want to be fooled into saying it was bad in England.” We had work, friends and entertainment, the sea was almost at hand. There was both laughter and joy, but when I came home at night, there was sadness, especially during the great holidays of the year.

We tried to create that comfort ourselves, but it was not the same. You rejoiced when the day was drawing to a close. And now, even tired after the day, we’re still moving somewhere, flying, leg cramps, we can’t even live. Until now, the saying “what are we going to do?” It has disappeared from our conversations. Now that it’s been replaced by the words, “well, where are we going today?”

A man has found a job easily because he is motivated, he always wants to fight for more, although his position now is quite good. I’ve been looking for a job since September because we found out that my daughter got a place in a state kindergarten. But I have already contacted a previous job and I think I will successfully return to my specialty for additional earnings. And I am looking for something new in my main job, I am thinking about the administrative sector, I hope to be successful. “

There were negative opinions

According to Violeta, many people told them that there was nothing to return to Lithuania: “There is nothing good here. Expensive. The family will not earn money. You will not survive. Well, so far I can say that we spend twice as much on food as in England, we eat much tastier. Yes, there are things that cost a lot, but we always plan our expenses, we save little by little for large purchases so that we do not have to take everything we pay in installments and then pay two years.

Savings. Tighten the belts. Purchased and calms the head. We learned all of this in England. As we left young, unable to save, the money simply evaporated. And now with a different way of thinking, life is completely different. We have legs, arms, heads on our shoulders, full of possibilities, just go and do it because nobody on the plate will help the main course. Life in Lithuania has always been and is different, mainly in its own language. His own people, although they occur of all kinds.

You feel like yourself here. Here almost every weekend, while we spend the summer in nature with tents or visiting grandmothers, here we can see the baptismal daughter here at any time, our daughter can freely communicate with her dear baptismal parents. We can go to other friends or family. As for the daughter in general, being here alone has only benefited her. When she returned, her daughter’s language development simply improved in weeks.

The daughter learns to communicate with other children, both older and younger, because she did not have that opportunity in England. She also has a wonderful connection to her baptismal parents. We are very happy about that, because our daughters have many activities, all kinds of new experiences. And for us as parents, this is very important, because when a child is happy, parents are too. As for us and my husband, we have reestablished a relationship with old friends who have not forgotten us, we have something to talk about and not just work. We can go somewhere together and that circle of friends and acquaintances is expanding. “

Don’t regret the decision

When asked if she did not regret emigrating 5 years ago, Violeta replied firmly: “Definitely not. We have built a family, we have become a family, like a big fist, our attitudes towards many things have changed, we are more separated where There is sincerity and where they only need you when you need it. Personally, it seems to me that we have not gone anywhere.

Because everything looks exactly as it should be. Will we feel the same in a few years? I think so, because only the man himself is the blacksmith of his life, how you try, what you will do, what you will do and why you will fight depends on you, but most importantly, you must carry within you that fire that encourages movement, the improvement. It died out, but it burned again in our hearts. There are disadvantages and advantages in any country, it is not worth comparing the economic situations of England or Lithuania, because these are two different countries, cultures and policies.

But I would like to ask everyone who has left: Are you sincerely happy where you are, lack personality development, feel appreciated, feel secure in a spiritual sense? All emigrants will return to their homeland: to live, study, work, raise children, vacations, others for eternal rest, so we must love our homeland, if not out loud, in silence, because no matter how badly Migrants like to talk about Lithuania, this The country gave a lot. Parents, grandparents, language, ability to read and write, songs like “Lithuanians ride the wall of the hill”, Maironis’ poem “Trakai Castle” and the wonderful “Grandmother’s Tale” by Salomėja Nėris, which I believe that everyone knows. Let us respect and love what we have and what we do not have: we achieve it with our own hands and hard work. “
