Unfortunately, few people think about keeping an electric scooter. After all, if the scooter is not repaired in time, some parts may start to wear out, various screws may come loose; As a result, the scooter may stop working, and then it will take more time and cost to repair it reliably, not to mention the safety of the trip itself.

If you have bought a scooter, you should look for someone who does this job well, cheaply and quickly, ”says Eimantas Balta, Head of Development for Electric Scooters in Lithuania and Latvia, a company that provides transportation rental services.
He also points out that the advantage of renting this vehicle is that you can always be sure that you will get a neat and safe scooter to use. After evaluating last year’s lessons that hiring outside specialists to deliver quality services is not always efficient or that the quality of service provided is not the best, the company decided to use its own technical service centers this year.
He suffers from vandalism and misuse.
The company, which calculates the years of experience of the scooter rental platform in the country, operates more than 1,000 scooters in Lithuania and plans to have almost three times more by the end of the month.
“In Lithuania, we use three different models of electric scooters, and each of these models has its own problems. In many cases, the speed of scooters and brake handles and rear fenders are affected by irresponsible use. Sometimes there are systemic failures, but with the help of an experienced team, as well as the chief mechanic, we repair them quickly, ”explains E. Balta.
He cites vandalism or malignant damage by breaking the handles, legs or damaging the body of the scooter as the main cause of the technical problems of the scooters. Sometimes, if the scooter is positioned incorrectly, it can tip over and break one part or the other. “In very rare cases, the cause of the failure is wear and tear, usually due to improper use of the scooter,” says a Bolt representative.
Laura Jurevičienė, Project Manager for the Electronics Dealers Association (EPA), notes that responsible electronics manufacturers have recently taken the sustainability trend into account and are looking to produce equipment that can be repaired, thus extending its life and reducing electronic waste. For a given group of electronic equipment, the European Commission has also established appropriate electronic design rules that provide for the possibility of repair.
E.Balta advises owners of electric scooters to first pay attention to the manufacturer’s instructions for use: they list all important moments of operation.
6 tips for scooter users
Thumbscrew. One of the most important operational recommendations is to periodically inspect the scooter, check all parts, inspect loose bolts – tighten if necessary.
Lubrication. Be sure to lubricate the necessary parts of the scooter.
Wires Check for loose or disconnected connection cables. After inspection, they can be attached and tightened with additional fasteners. However, in similar cases, it is better to choose repair companies.
Tires. Check and inflate if necessary.
Driving culture. It also affects the life of the scooter. Drive responsibly where necessary – slow down (especially when passing pedestrians or cyclists – in this case, the risk of an accident is greater).
Parking lot. It is important to place the scooter in an orderly manner, not in the middle of the sidewalk or on the bike path, preferably on the bike racks or on a stable stand so that the wind does not fall on the wind.
“Promoting responsible consumption to use electronic equipment for as long as possible is also one of the principles of our association. It is equally important that electronic waste be properly classified and delivered to authorized handlers for recycling.

It should be noted that a broken and obsolete scooter is not junk, it is an electronic waste that must be professionally disposed of, ”recalls L. Jurevičienė.
