“It has become clear that we have far more intellectual potential than we exploit. To achieve those results, as in other sectors, we need to change the way we work. I see a lot of competition, plowing my furrow and very little cooperation and ambition, ”said the mayor of the capital, Remigijus Šimašius, on Thursday.
“The 16 institutions agreed to work together and share information, show plans, support each other, not just compete with each other,” he added.
Vilna deputy mayor Valdas Benkunskas said that so far the companies have been working in one direction for many years, adding that specific projects born on this platform will soon be presented.
Vilniaus Vandenys and Vilnius Heat Networks. Vilniaus Vandenai’s large wastewater treatment plant emits a lot of thermal energy, which evaporates into the air and contributes to CO2 emissions. This synergy between the two companies will allow the evaporated heat to be collected and used for the needs of the townspeople. It is a great investment, but at the same time it is a great prospect to move forward, “said V. Benkunskas.
According to Gerimantas Bakanas, director of Vilniaus šilumos tinklai, investments in projects could reach 250 million in 10 years. But with more and more companies joining the platform, investment could increase.
“At the moment, on this platform alone, we estimate that the investment will reach 250 million in 10 years.” euros We plan that all investments will be worth it. With these solutions we plan to reduce 400 thousand. tons of CO2 emissions, “said Bakan.
According to the Vilnius mayor, it is expected to attract more investment in the real estate (RE) sector.
“The goal is to have as many projects as possible, especially with real estate development, because for the most part there are untapped opportunities. We hope that most of them are probably not state and municipal companies, but hopefully also private investments, “said R. Šimašius.
He also added that no additional costs were incurred for the project.
“It was not a project that required the hiring of outsiders. We did not incur any separate costs,” said the mayor.
The platform aims to implement initiatives to reduce climate change, create clean innovations in the energy sector, expand renewable energy sources, promote the circular economy, mobilize communities and invest in a green and climate-neutral Vilnius.
The open platform is bolstered by a memorandum signed by Ignitis group, EPSO-G, the Records Center, Axioma Metering, BOD Group, Solitek, Lithuanian heat providers, plus initiators from the city of Vilnius and Vilnius Heat Networks. Association, Association of Independent Heat Producers, Association of Lithuanian Builders, BaltCap investment funds, Katalista Ventures and representatives of science: Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Sunrise Valley Science and Technology Park, Vilnius Valley Association.
