The Vilnius Board of Special Investigation Service (STT) is conducting a pre-trial investigation into possible illegal actions related to the purchase of high-value coronavirus reagents.
On Tuesday, searches, seizures, interrogations and other necessary actions of the process were carried out in various locations in Vilnius. The main suspect (suspected of having an effect on traffic) became Šarūnas Narbutas, publicly known as the president of the Oncology Patient Assistance Association (POLA).
On Wednesday afternoon, the proceedings were also moved to the Vilnius City District Court, where they will not hold a public hearing from 3 p.m. The prosecutor’s request to allow and continue to detain the suspect arrested by S. Narbutas is being considered.
According to the investigation, the suspect began to act as an informal intermediary between the Lithuanian authorities and the company to fight with the state authorities in order to obtain a large quantity of coronavirus test reagents (COVID-19) and start negotiations with a authorized representative of a foreign company. There is also evidence in the pre-trial investigation file that the suspect may have named a certain amount to his company’s representative for his brokerage services in that acquisition.
According to the pre-trial investigation, nearly 5 million purchases of coronavirus test reagents (COVID-19), more than € 300,000 were transferred to the suspect’s personal bank account on several occasions. quantity. It is true that, for its part, the Association denies having participated in the purchase of reagents.
As witnesses in the pre-trial investigation into the procurement of reagents, the STT questioned the Government Chancellor, Algirdas Stončaitis, and Vice Chancellor Lukas Savickas.
The investigation is controlled and directed by prosecutors from the Department of Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation of the Attorney General’s Office.
