Kaunas police raids: even 2081 speed buffs were caught, there was no shortage of problems due to alcohol

Officials from the Road Patrol Company of the Kaunas County Chief Police Commissioner Highway Police Board, in order to ensure road safety, last week, from July 13 to 19, continued to verify compliance with traffic regulations by road users.

July 13 10:37 p.m. On the Kaunas-Marijampolė-Suvalkai road, a BMW car was registered, with which the driver exceeded the established speed much more than allowed. The mobile speedometer records a speed of 160 km / h, when 90 km / h is allowed on that section of the road.

Last week, officials from the Road Patrol Company identified 10 drunk drivers and 7 intoxicated cyclists.

July 19 11.05 p.m. In the Kėdainiai district, in the village of Paobelis, a man (born 1990) was riding a bicycle while intoxicated. He had an average drunkenness of 1.95 graduation. Pedestrians also recorded violations, a total of 14. There were also 31 cases of dangerous drivers and hooligans and 11 drivers sitting in vehicles, although they had no right to do so.

On Saturday morning, July 18, officers from the Highway Police Board worked additionally in the Jonava district, on the Kaunas-Zarasai-Daugavpils highway.

A total of 1,827 vehicles were inspected during the raids, and sobriety was verified by their drivers. Six intoxicated drivers (mild drunkenness) were identified. One of them is a motorcycle rider who, upon seeing the police officers, circled a continuous line of markings and attempted to escape. The man was soon detained by officers.

The reason for avoiding passing officers was also evident: the rider was assigned a mild degree of drunkenness: 0.52 graduation.

Fourteen other drivers had also consumed alcohol but did not exceed the legal limit. Two drivers who were driving vehicles without the right to drive were also identified, 1 driver had not paid the toll and the other had driven a car that was not registered in accordance with the law.

Minutes of these violations were taken. Officials carry out similar and similar measures regularly.

In Kaunas County, 13 road users were killed this year (last year until the end of July – 19), another 383 were injured (last year – 400). Officials urge all road users to follow Traffic Rules, be disciplined on the road, and desire a safe road!
