The pre-trial investigation of the Šiauliai Regional Prosecutor’s Office and the Telšiai County Chief Police Commissioner revealed that the purchase of doping substances and their sale were more expensive, the chain of events involving substances that could have been illegally removed . The criminal case with the accusation was transferred to the Šiauliai Regional Court.
Three men are accused of illegal possession of doping substances for the purpose of distribution: former head and coach of the sports club in Šiauliai N. Č., 41, resident of the RSS district for 20 years and assistant coach of the sports club of 39 years in Kaunas RG
Šiauliai, who was recently convicted of illegal possession of doping substances, is also accused of illegal possession of a large number of psychotropic substances.
During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that in 2018 N. Č., Having traveled to Vilnius, purchased 320 units of tablets containing a large amount of psychotropic substances and almost 7,000 vials, ampoules, tablets, pills and vial preparations different, equivalent to doping. While keeping anabolic androgenic steroid preparations at work, the coach sold them multiple times in the spring and summer of 2019 to an acquaintance, R. S., who met the online dealer after finding his contacts as an athlete. After purchasing 6,000 units of various preparations, R. S. kept them in the Mažeikiai district, in the relative’s warehouse.
According to the case file, a resident of the Mažeikiai district resells them online as sports supplements. The third defendant, R. G., was tempted by such supplements, who purchased the preparations twice, when he arrived at R. S. After a search of the three defendants, various doping preparations were found.
All three defendants pleaded guilty, according to a statement released Monday by Gabrielė Petkuvienė, Chief Specialist, Communication Division, Office of the Attorney General (Šiauliai).
The Penal Code establishes a fine, arrest or imprisonment of up to 4 years for the illegal removal of substances specified in the Law of Control of Certain Anti-Doping Substances of the Republic of Lithuania for distribution. For illegal possession of a large quantity of psychotropic substances: imprisonment for 10 to 15 years.
