As Christmas trees light up in Europe, the European Commission’s tourism promotion website, European Best Destinations, has published 19 of the most beautiful.
True, it was based on fir versions from the previous two years. In this way, the fir tree, which has just been lit and is not even decorated, is on the list.

2. Strasbourg, France
Strasbourg is the Christmas capital that other cities try to copy, but never match. It is an ideal place to celebrate Christmas: the city is decorated with lights and installations. It is true that this year there is no Christmas fair, but the Christmas tree is no less fascinating.

Advent in Prague is romantic and charming. This year it will be quieter as the Christmas villages will not rise in the main squares of the city. However, near the Cathedral, the main Prague fir is already lit, which, like every year, is reminiscent of traditional and cozy winter holidays.

Its old town is incredibly beautiful, with festive lights, shops, and trees. This year, Basel has canceled the Christmas fair, but there will be thematic exhibitions and a review circle.

Cologne is constantly mentioned among the most Christmas cities in Germany. This year, sadly, they have been canceled. However, all the places where the fairs were full of life in previous years will be richly decorated this year so that the inhabitants can still enjoy the Christmas spirit.

Kiev is a destination for those travelers looking for snow, rich decorations and Orthodox Christmas traditions. Christmas tree St. Sofia Square is decorated with miles of garlands. It is true that it usually lights up in the second half of December.
8. Rome, Italy

In Rome, the Christmas spirit accompanies every step. Some great Christmas trees even sprout, right here in the Vatican for those who want more spirituality and focus. The cozy Christmas fair in Piazza Navona will not take place this year, but the Christmas tree in Piazza Venezzia will continue to enchant passersby this year. In the imperial city, the anticipation of Christmas is appropriate: the main streets are decorated with rich decorations and the Christmas fair at the City Hall is considered one of the most incredible in Europe. It is not yet clear if the fairs will take place this year, but the Christmas tree will certainly not be abandoned during the pandemic.
