October 27 A “VW Passat” passenger car driven by a Lithuanian national arrived at the Panemunė roadside post from the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation. 36 carefully selected waste packages of electronic components containing precious metals were found in a cache installed in the fuel tank. Total load weight: 48 kilograms. Preliminary customs value of the contraband goods, including taxes to be paid: more than 11,000 euros.
Customs agents seized scrap electronic parts and a car smuggling for 7,000 euros.
A pre-trial investigation into an attempted bribery of a public official and smuggling was launched in the Klaipėda section of the Criminal Customs Service. The pre-trial investigation is led by the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
