Motorola has not officially announced the successor to its rebooted Razr, but thanks to a few new leaks, we have almost our first 360-degree after the next attempt at a foldable phone.

On Saturday, listed leaker Evan Blass tweeted a poison (shared below) that shows a phone that looks a lot like last year’s Razr. Over the past few weeks, Blass has shared several static renderings of the device, including a logo that appears to confirm that it will be called the Motorola Razr 5G, as many had already speculated.

The Razr 5G looks largely unchanged in terms of form factor, nor relying on the same shear mechanism that, hopefully, will not be stiff and creaking this time around. Motorola appears to shrink and smooth the nuts at both ends of the handheld and closes the fingerprint sensor completely to streamline the appearance. The screen also looks bigger, which would fall in line with what we’ve heard so far. Last month, industry insider Ross Young tweeted that Motorola is building up the screen size for its next Razr (from 6.2 inches to 6.7 inches) to match Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip.

The most important design change is their camera as well one previous render is believable. The camera is already elevated on the current Razr, but these cameras push noticeably further out, especially seen from the side, and reflect an aspect of Motorola’s original flip phone that maybe could have remained in the 2000s.

Blass also noted this week that the Razr 5G may be available at AT&T, which would certainly be a pivot, since the original Razr was again a Verizon-exclusive. As for specifications, a source with whom to speak XDA Developers rather leaky that the new Razr will upgrade to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 48-MP main camera, and a larger 2,845 mAh battery. With a Snapdragon 765 chip and a name like the “Razr 5G,” one can safely assume that it will support 5G, but there is still no word on whether that is only sub-6Ghz 5G or the mmWave 5G available via Verizon’s network.

There was also a price point zilch, which can be an enormous decision for many phone buyers given the lukewarm public reception up to 5G so far. That plus upgraded specs may not be enough to convince follows up on more than $ 1,500 if the Razr 5G costs as much as the original. Especially with the Galaxy Z Flip which offers better performance at $ 100 less (and a successor adopted en route this fall).

As for the rumors, it is expected that Motorola will discover the follow-up to its Razr again earlier this year, possibly on its virtual event on September 9th. That, of course, is tentative, as everything is these days, given the very pandemic situation.
