In the first year of this year, Samgo’s Comprehensive Plan was established and promoted by supplying electric vehicles and introducing hydrogen trams to run the city and the low-carbon industrial ecosystem. Market “brave choice for the future”
The city of Ulsan declared this year the first year of ‘Ulsan city 2050 carbon neutral’ and set out to establish a comprehensive medium and long-term plan to achieve this.
Mayor Song Chul-ho declared the ‘Realization of the City of Ulsan Carbon Neutral by 2050’ at Citizen Hall on the first floor of City Hall.
The content of the declaration is △ Ulsan-type energy conversion △ Creation of a new innovative low-carbon industrial ecosystem △ Change from urban operation to a carbon removal system △ Expansion of natural carbon sinks △ Establishment of a system of carbon-neutral public-private cooperation between citizens and companies.
First, according to the city, Ulsan-type energy transformation is the core vision for achieving carbon neutrality.
This is the concept of converting the existing fossil fuel-centric energy system to eco-friendly low carbon by fostering the hydrogen industry and creating a floating offshore wind farm.
The creation of a new innovative low-carbon industrial ecosystem is a policy to reduce carbon generation by activating new green future industries by revitalizing free economic zones, free regulatory zones for carbon dioxide resources and R&D zones of Jiangsu.
Conversion from urban operation to a carbon removal system is the concept of changing the general urban operation system to a carbon removal system by supplying hydrogen and electric vehicles, introducing hydrogen trams and introducing a total GHG system for buildings.
The expansion of natural carbon sinks is aimed at increasing ecological green spaces in various places in the city, such as urban wind road forests and fine dust reduction forests, centered on the Taehwa River National Garden.
In order to establish a carbon-neutral public-private cooperation system, the Carbon Neutral Committee and a promotion team are operated at the working level to verify step-by-step the implementation of carbon neutrality, and a meeting of discussion for citizens to expand communication with citizens.
The city will organize a meeting with the Ulsan Research Institute in March to hear opinions from experts related to citizenship and industry-academia, and in April it will form a carbon neutrality committee and working group.
Then, on the occasion of Environment Day in June, the company plans to proclaim a concrete vision and implementation strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
