Trump opposes changes to the debate rules via Twitter
[아시아경제 나주석 기자] The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has expressed his disagreement with the change in the way the television presidential debate is progressing. President Trump mentioned that he was the winner of the debate last month.
On the 1st (local time), President Trump said on Twitter: “Last time I easily won the television debate. Why should I allow the debating committee to change the rules on the second and third television debates?” Before this, President Trump said, “Looking at the accumulated polls, I won the television debate.”

On the 29th of last month, in the televised debate of the presidential candidate, President Trump interrupted the speech of the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Due to this, a proper discussion could not be continued. Finally, the two candidates were fighting over the problem of intervening in the other candidate’s speaking time.
As the debate continued, the debating committee announced that it would follow a plan to change the rules. However, President Trump voiced his opposition to the revision of the rules.
Immediately after the last debate, the US media showed criticism, using expressions such as ‘terrible debate’ and ‘total confusion’. President Trump intervened dozens of times amid Biden’s comments, and Biden, resentful, exclaimed ‘clown’ and ‘shut up.’
For this reason, the situation developed by drawing the attention of some people to whether Biden’s side would participate in the two remaining television debates. According to the Washington Post (WP), an official on Biden’s side said in a phone call with reporters after the presidential debate: “Candidate Biden will continue to appear in the debate” and “He will continue to speak with American citizens.”
The two candidates have two more television debates on the 15th and 22nd of this month. The television debate between the vice presidential candidates is scheduled for the 7th.
