“Trade agreement, not renegotiation”
The President of the United States, Donald Trump, raised the level of public offensive by discussing “isolation” with China.
“We can cut the whole relationship,” Trump said in a Fox Business interview on May 14 (local time) of the measures against China. “We could cut the entire relationship.”
He said, “If it happened, what would happen?” He said: “If we stop the relationship with China, we will save $ 500 billion.”
President Trump also answered the question of whether he had spoken to Chinese President Xi Jinping, saying, “It is a very good relationship.”
Tensions between the United States and China, which seemed to ease after the first phase of the trade agreement, have rebounded after the massive spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona19) in the United States. Blaming the government’s attitude, it recently pushed for “the origin of the Wuhan Virus Research Center”, and the Chinese government strongly opposes it.
President Trump accused China of responding to Corona19, “they could have stopped (the proliferation)” and “they should not allow this to happen.”
He also said he would not “renegotiate” the first-tier trade agreement with China.
“I have been saying this for years,” he said, while discussing isolation with China. “It has been said about other countries,” he added. “China is not the only country that is extorting us.”
President Trump later referred to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and stressed: “I could have paid them hundreds of billions more.”
On the other hand, President Trump replied: “We will look closely” when the host Maria Bartiromo asked: “We will force Chinese companies that wish to list on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq to comply with the accounting regulations of the States United”.
President Trump said, “What would you do if you said (to Chinese companies) ‘I will have to follow the NYSE and Nasdaq rules’?” They will say, ‘Okay, we are going to move to London or Hong Kong.’ .
