The Belgian royal family has released a photo of Princess Elizabeth, the number one successor to the Belgian throne, receiving military training at the Royal Army Academy. According to Belgian media such as Brussels Times and VRT on the 19th (local time), Princess Elizabeth, 18 this year, decided to study at the Royal Army Academy in Brussels for a year after graduating from high school in Wales, England.
Princess Elizabeth follows the tradition of the Belgian royal family. The princess’s father, King Philip, was also educated here. However, Princess Elizabeth is the first to participate in the training as a princess. When Princess Elizabeth becomes queen, she also receives the position of Supreme Commander of the Belgian Army.
Princess Elizabeth did not take the entrance exam to the Royal Military Academy. Unlike other students, they are only participating in training for one year as ‘successors to the throne’, and they will not receive a diploma.
Princess Elizabeth participates in a four-week military exercise that began on the 2nd. By training in a camp in Liege, Belgium, Princess Elizabeth learns the values of defense, such as discipline, respect, dedication and courage. as well as shooting, marching and camouflage skills.
Even though she is a princess, there is no “princess treatment”. The first-year supervisor said, “It is an honor to be with the princess, but we treat the princess in the same way as other students.” He said: “The princess, like all other students, is called by her last name, not by her first name.”
A colonel in charge of basic education said: “Like everyone else, the princess will not receive special treatment.” VRT said it meant that Princess Elizabeth was trained to crawl in mud like everyone else. There are bodyguards around Elizabeth, but they are said to watch over them without attracting attention. If Princess Elizabeth passes the first stage of training, she will receive a ‘blue hat’ with her parents present at the commemorative event on the 25th.
