The screen used to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in the University Academic Ability Test (SAT) that takes place on the 3rd of next month is made of translucent acrylic material.

The screen is not installed on the left and right sides of the desktop, but only in front of the desktop.

According to the Ministry of Education and each provincial education office on the 4th, the Education Office recently signed a contract through a tender from the Public Procurement Service on the screen that will be used for the SAT.

This screen consists of an upper plate 60 cm wide and 45 cm high and two lower plates that support it.

A rectangular slot with a width of 40 cm was made at the bottom of the top plate so that a part of the questionnaire could be placed outside the desk for examination.

Double-sided tape is attached to the bottom plate so that the display can be fixed to the desktop.

To avoid cheating and to monitor the exam, the screen was made translucent.

An official from the Ministry of Education explained: “If the screen is too transparent, the test paper is reflected on the screen and other examinees can cheat, so it is made of a non-transparent material to minimize reflection.”

He added: “If it is too opaque, it is difficult to monitor the test and we decided to make it semi-transparent.”

The Ministry of Education and the Office of Education plan to reinforce the training of the SAT supervisor to prevent fraudulent behavior using the screen, as the detection screen was installed for the first time in the SAT this year.

The Seoul Metropolitan Bureau of Education spent 1.9 billion won to buy 120,000 masks.

The number of SAT candidates nationwide is 49,343, so the total cost is estimated at 8 billion won in purchasing masks from 17 provincial education offices nationwide.

The Ministry of Education and the municipal education office are known to be discussing ways to use the screening screen for the SAT even after the SAT, as Corona 19 continues.

Previously, some SAT candidates complained that if a screen is placed on the desk, the space on the desk can be reduced and can interfere with taking the exam, and they even petitioned for the Blue House to remove the screen.

In response, the Ministry of Education said: “There is no gap between the examinees at the test site, and it is difficult to withdraw the installation plan because the Central Headquarters for Security and Disaster Countermeasures (Company) requested that a screen be installed.” .
