The spread of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Korea shows no signs of easing.
In the wake of group infections across the country, new confirmed cases were added one after another, and not only did the range of 1,000 people continue for two days in a row (1,241 → 1,132 people) from 25 to 26, and set the record for the first and second place since the corona 19 epidemic in Korea.
On the 27th it fell below 1,000 people, but this is the effect of the decrease in the number of Christmas inspections and cannot be seen as a decrease in the spread.
In addition, there are 10 to 20 deaths per day and the proportion of patients whose route of infection is unknown exceeds 28%.
Therefore, the government will hold a meeting of the Central Headquarters for Disasters and Security Countermeasures on the afternoon of the 27th, in addition to the ‘special quarantine measures for the end of the year and New Year’ that have been implemented at the national level since day 24, and finalize additional measures, including the adjustment plan for ‘social distancing’. .
In the case of the Seoul metropolitan area, the current stage 2.5 is expected to be extended, but the possibility of an upgrade to the third stage cannot be ruled out based on the results of the major main conference.
◇ Although the number of inspections decreases, 1000 people in two days … 970 confirmed today
According to the Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bangdaebon), the number of new confirmed cases at 0 o’clock that day was 970.
The number was down 162 people from the previous day (1,132 people), a decrease of 1,000 people.
The number of daily inspections the day before was 36,997, which was 6,939 more than the 358 the day before, but 2,150 less than the 57,000,147 of last Thursday, the immediately preceding business day. Considering the number of tests, the number of new confirmed cases close to 1,000 is by no means small.
In the midst of this, the number of deaths has risen rapidly every day and quarantine authorities are scrambling to prepare measures.
On the 25th, 20 people left a day, and the day before, 15 people left and the accumulated number of deaths increased to 808. Since the 21st (accumulated 698), there have been 110 deaths in six days and the rate of increase is pronounced.
In addition, the cases of infection by unknown route also exceeded 28%, registering the highest level since the third pandemic. In the last 22-25 days (27.1% → 27.4% → 27.8% → 27.2%), it reached 27% for four consecutive days and then increased to 28.6% the day before.
It means that approximately 3 out of 10 confirmed cases do not know when and where they were infected, which is proof that the “hidden infection” is widespread in local communities.
As such, the situation is getting worse because recently, in addition to infections in general daily life, large and small group infections continue to occur in vulnerable facilities such as correctional facilities, nursing homes, nursing homes, and churches.
As the quarantine front widens, the government’s epidemiological response becomes increasingly difficult.
In the case of serious infections, up to the previous day a total of 520 people were confirmed in connection with the East Seoul Detention Center, and a total of 134 people were infected in the Guro-gu nursing hospital. 84 people also tested positive at a nursing hospital in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.
In addition, in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, a group infection related to different churches occurred on the 22nd and 23rd, resulting in 23 confirmed cases, and so far 17 people have been infected in a church in Gyeongju, Gyeongsang Province of the North.

◇ At 3 o’clock in the afternoon, it was decided to distance the script meeting… Possibility of extension of 2.5 steps
Meanwhile, the government held a critical meeting on the script chaired by Prime Minister Chung Sye-gyun at 3 p.m. the same day to determine additional quarantine measures, including whether or not to increase the distance.
Given that Phase 2.5 and Phase 2, which are being implemented in metropolitan regions and outside the capital, will end on the 28th, plans will be decided to expand or improve these measures.
At present, the weight is known to be placed on the “2.5-step extension” rather than the “3-step upgrade”.
During the third stage of the upgrade, it is known that 2,300,000 facilities were suspended or restricted from operation nationwide, resulting in significant economic damage.
In a briefing the previous day, Jung Eun-kyung, head of Bangdae headquarters, responded to a related question: “In addition to the 2.5 steps, we are monitoring the trend by implementing special quarantine measures across the country throughout the year. “. There is concern that this will spread, so we are continually reviewing (staggered update) with local governments and ministries. “

Infectious disease experts have made a single voice on the need to strengthen quarantine measures, but are showing differences in their position on the three-stage upgrade.
Professor Chun Byeong-cheol from Korea University’s Department of Preventive Medicine said: “Since citizens and businesses are operating in almost three stages, the government should not maintain the situation where it is not in stage 2.5 nor on stage 3 as it is now, and needs to be upgraded to stage 3. “
On the other hand, Professor Kimoran from the National Cancer Center said that “if the door is closed unconditionally and you are asked to stay home without support measures, there is a high possibility that it will not be effective,” he said. “I’m concerned that the increased distance could cause damage other than the Corona 19.”
