The first female helicopter pilot came 65 years after the Marine Corps began training pilots in 1955.
According to the Marine Corps Command on day 1, Captain Sang-ah Cho (27th school district 62), the first female helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps, was currently assigned to the 1st Aviation Battalion of Division 1 after completing the training course on October 23 to carry out his mission as a Marine-On pilot (MUH-1). After completing the additional training required for the program, they are fully committed to the operational mission.

From high school, Captain Cho had a dream of becoming an airplane pilot and began his military career as the commander of the Pohang 1st Division as the commander of the Armament Munitions Platoon after being appointed. After participating in several amphibious drills, attracting the aviation force to play a key role in the performance of the landing force mission was the opportunity to run as an aviation officer this year. After completing the 9-month pilot training course consisting of basic and advanced courses in the training squad, he took his first steps as a pilot. In the curriculum, approximately 80 hours of flight training, such as take-off and landing, flight in place, etc., as well as the basic knowledge required as a pilot, such as principles of flight, air traffic control and aircraft, were educated systematically by expert instructors. He said, “I was able to overcome the difficulties of the curriculum thinking that I could become a better me than yesterday and become the best helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps.”
He added: “Instead of worrying about my daughter who is walking in the path of a soldier, my parents and my family always support me,” he said. “With the pride of being the first female helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps, the competency necessary to complete any given mission. I will become a Marine Corps pilot equipped with a spearhead.”
Meanwhile, the Marine Corps trains pilots, mechanics, and controllers each year to establish aviation equipment and plans to build a known mobile Marine Corps capable of high-speed three-dimensional landing operations through aviation equipment.
