The number of unemployed was 967,000, an increase of 101,000 over the previous year. The unemployment rate was 3.4%, 0.3 percentage points more than a year ago. As of November, it is the highest since November 2004 (3.5%). The unemployment rate for young people aged 15 to 29 increased 1.1 percentage points to 8.1%.

The number of inactive economically active population increased from 431,000 to 1,667 million.
