Wickman’s statement came after Taiwanese authorities twice denied the flight of US military aircraft,” he said. “This shows that both the United States and Taiwan are aware of the seriousness of the problem.”
He added: “It is important to note that US military aircraft cannot fly over Taiwan,” he said. “If specific evidence is obtained, we believe the PLA will respond strongly, such as sending fighters over Taiwan.” He warned: “This will be an important step towards unification.”
China views the US military planes flying over Taiwan as an invasion of airspace. Article 8 of the China Anti-Separated State Law enacted in 2005 is a “ non-peaceful path ” when separatist forces in Taiwan act to cause the separation of Taiwan, or when a serious incident occurs that separates Taiwan from China. , or when there is no possibility of peaceful reunification.
