The rating of the JTBC 16-story drama ‘Couple’s World’ has dropped significantly. Viewers’ interest is reported to have waned since the story, which focused on the conflict between husband and wife over marital affairs, was somewhat distracted, such as the death of a blackmailer and the wandering of a high school son.
According to Nielsen Korea, a rating survey company on the 9th, episode 13 of “The World of Couples” aired the night before recorded 21.1% of paid households across the country. This is a 3.2% point drop from the 24.3% recorded for the 12 times when interest in the drama peaked. This is the opposite of the popular drama pattern in which viewer interest has increased since the mid-mid and viewer ratings have increased.
As for the drop in audience rate on this day, many people see it as “the viewers who used to watch it are slowly leaving.” On the bulletin board of the Internet community, negative comments have been dominated since this day’s broadcast. Viewer A wrote, “It’s frustrating because it just piles up the story like a sweet potato and doesn’t blow it up.” Mr. B wrote: “In the first half of season 2 of the original drama ‘Doctor Foster’, which corresponds to the second half of ‘The World of Couples’, there was no fun compared to the corresponding season 1.” There was a positive review. Mr. C wrote: “It was good because it shows how a child’s life can be distorted by divorce.” Mr. D said, “Unlike existing domestic dramas, it is not just about dealing with infidelity and conflict, but with complex and subtle feelings between couples. It is cool because it deals with the wanderings of a divorced child.”
The decline in the ‘World of Couples’ rankings is estimated to be a phenomenon that is difficult to avoid due to the weaknesses of’ Dr. Foster ‘on which the drama is based. Even when broadcast in Korea via KBS in the past, “Dr. Foster” noted that Season 2, which contains the concerns of a couple surrounding a son who became a troubled child, is less complete or immersive than Season 1, which developed around adultery.
“The World of Couples” released five episodes of season 1 of “Doctor Foster” in six episodes, while five episodes of season 2 were adapted in ten episodes. In fact, the tension in the second half, flowing at half speed, is inevitably reduced compared to the first half, which moved season 1, which was fast and compressed, at a similar rate.
The second half of “World of Couples” has been transformed into a new job by adding different content than the original. Added Park In-gyu (Lee Hak-joo) murder and death threat, which is not included in ‘Dr. Foster ‘, and the amount of volume was increased by adding conflicts between Son Je-hyuk (Kim Young-min) and Go Ye-rim (Park Sun-young). However, it did not prevent the decrease in density compared to the first half, which focused on Ji Sun-woo (Kim Hee-ae) and Lee Tae-o (Park Hae-jun) and Da Da-kyung (Han So -hee).
In the 13th episode of ‘The Couple’s World’, she portrayed Ji Sun-woo and Lee Tae-o, who are in trouble due to the wandering and diversion of their son Lee Jun-young (Jin Jin-seo). Jun-young is shocked when Ji-woon and Lee Tae-o meet after a friend’s assault from school.
If you follow the story line of ‘Dr. Foster, ‘The Couple’s World’ is expected to draw the conflict between Lee Tae-oh and Da-kyung Yeo and the appearance of Tae-o Lee in trouble and Jun-young’s deeper wandering.
