Vice President Lee was sentenced to five years in prison at the first trial and then commuted to two years and six months in prison on appeal and four years of probation; however, the amount of bribes recognized in the appeal trial increased by more than 5 billion won, inevitably increasing the penalty.
The Supreme Court returned the case to the Seoul High Court, condemning part of the bribery that was found not guilty by the court case.
